The Tanker

I am the tanker.

I bring life; no one need fear me.
Nor try to defend against what I do.
No one must seek protection from me.
Mothers can ignore my passing and let
Little children play in my shadow.
For I am never a threat to anyone.

I am the tanker.

Let others rain death and destruction.
When they are weary from their fighting,
When they are tired, and hungry and thirsty,
When their engines are gasping their last,
They will find me with the other angels
And I will bring them hope and comfort.
I will fill them up and sustain them,
And send them safe to happy landings.

I am the tanker.

And when I am called by my Maker
To give an account of my services,
He alone will know how many I saved:
The lives of brave souls who otherwise
Would have crashed, and burned, and died.
But are still alive today - because of me.

I am the tanker.
