"You are the salt of the earth.*" - Matthew 5:13

Catholics believe that there are many directions away from God, and equally as many ways back to Him. Those on the left must go right, those on the right must go left. There are some who have to go neither of these directions, and some opposite even to that! The way you have to go depends on where you are now. Ways to God are not restricted to a single dimension or path. But all of them go to the Father, through Jesus. Not everyone on the journey knows that, and many don't even know where they're going.

We like to think that we do. Sometimes we don't act like it!

Any questions?

Oh, you don't love God if you don't love your neighbor,
If you gossip about her; if you never have mercy,
If she gets into trouble and you don't try to help her,
Then you don't love your neighbor and you don't love God!

* Genesis tells us that God created man in "His own image and likeless" and Jesus maintained that (at least some) people are "the salt of the Earth." Salt is a necessary nutritional ingredient, and makes food last longer and taste better, which are good things. With that in mind, I don't think it's inappropriate to represent God as a salt shaker, at least for this discussion.
